Sieders set to lead Island invasion.

Nulon Oil's David Sieders will be looking to continue his progress back up the standings when the Yokohama V8 Ute Series - protected by Armor All returns to Phillip Island Raceway (VIC) for Round Five of the season this weekend, 10th - 12th September 2010.

Currently sitting in fourth position, and 88 points out of the series lead, Sieders is confident of narrowing the gap, following on from his strong results in the previous round at Townsville.

"Our engine cost us a good showing in Darwin," said Sieders, "we bolted in a new one before Townsville, and it was good to be back with the front runners and move up one spot in the Championship".

"I was still disappointed to finish outside the Top Three, even if it was only by seven points, but the second half of the season should really suit me, so I'm looking to get back onto the podium a few more times before the end of the year."

This will be the first time that the V8 Utes have raced at Phillip Island since 2007, and whilst David Sieders is one of 13 drivers making their maiden Ute appearance at the track, the former Ford Performance Racing Test and Development Driver is by no means a stranger to the track.

"I'm really excited to get back to Phillip Island," said Sieders, "like Adelaide, it is another track I know quite well, having raced there since 2007 in both Supercar categories...I'll be looking to use all that knowledge and experience to gain every advantage it offers."

"This time last year I made my debut in the V8 Supercar Championship with one of four Enduro Wildcards, and managed to finish inside the Top 15 for my solo race, three spots ahead of back-to-back champion Jamie Whincup."

"We had the opportunity to compete as a Wildcard in the V8 Supercar Enduro's again this year, but we determined that it was just going to use up too many resources and potentially hurt our chances of winning the V8 Ute Championship too much."

The Yokohama V8 Utes have not raced for nine weeks, courtesy of a 'mid-season break' being scheduled this year, and Sieders is eager to get back to racing.

"We've had a few tests since Townsville, and have learnt more and more about the car's limits each time," said Sieders, "getting track time during this break has been good, but it's definitely no substitute for the door-to-door racing of the Competition".

With four rounds gone and four remaining, Sieders is taking a 'no excuses' approach to the track as he hunts down an elusive Championship Trophy.

"We're going into the 'money' end of the season, and with the car running like it is, and the competition heading to tracks I'm more familiar with, I expect to be right at the pointy end of the field until that final chequered flag falls in Sydney."
